It’s time to face facts. The days of lazing on the beach and strolling around in just a t-shirt have been and gone. Before you know it, you’ll be scoffing at the price of wrapping paper and dragging decorations out of storage.
But there’s still time to get another quick break in before the Christmas madness ensues, and as luck would have it, there’s no better season than autumn to travel. Cheaper than summer and warmer than winter, this colourful, crisp time of year is perfect for exploring a new city.

London
We can’t get enough of London. This energetic city has it all and is the perfect trip for a long weekend.
One of the most visited cities in the world, London offers a range of hotels for every budget and attractions that few other destinations can match.
Besides the typical tourist activities like a visit to the Tower of London and tea at the Ritz, there are loads of things to see and do in the British capital, from exciting football matches to bustling markets. There are even plenty of cheap or free things to do in London, too.
It’s no surprise that this city scores high on many people’s autumn city break list.
Warsaw
An ever-increasing number of people are making Warsaw their next destination – and rightly so
Poland’s capital has been overshadowed by Krakow for several years, but Warsaw is becoming more and more popular. The largest city in Poland has a lot to offer and is gorgeous in the autumn.
Stare Miasto, the historical centre, was reconstructed after it was levelled in the Second World War. The Royal Castle, Wilanów Palace and the Neon Museum are all popular attractions, but Łazienki Park makes for a particularly scenic stroll with a backdrop of autumn colours.
Like many of the former Eastern Bloc countries, classical music is very important to the Polish. In Warsaw’s Old Town, you can be inspired by Chopin and Mozart concerts.
Berlin
Berlin is one of the trendiest destinations for an autumn city break
Berlin is one of those cities you need to visit more than once.
The German capital’s slogan is “Die Stadt der Freiheit” meaning “The city of freedom”, and Berlin certainly lives up to that. The art and cultural life in Berlin is richly developed, with numerous galleries, and even an island of museums to sink your teeth into.
When thinking of Berlin, the Second World War and the Berlin Wall are probably the first things that come to mind. But this city’s story is fascinating, and there’s so much more to see.

Palma
Palma is incredibly beautiful and an excellent choice for an autumn break since there are fewer tourists and the weather is still pleasant
Majorca’s capital, Palma, is the perfect combination of sunny weather and city break activities. Its quaint, narrow alleys and beautiful plazas where you can rest in the shade under swaying palm trees make for a relaxing autumn getaway.
Visit the cathedral which is beautifully lit up after dark, or make your way up to Bellver Castle for some spectacular panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean.
A delicious meal is paramount for Palma’s residents and guests alike. To avoid a disappointing culinary experience, avoid randomly walking into one of the tourist trap restaurants. Paris

Paris is a bit of an obvious choice, but it has so much to offer, we couldn’t leave it off this list of our favourite cities for an autumn break.
It just takes a split-second to see that Paris is the capital city of a country with a rich history. The centre is characterised by many buildings of great splendour.
The city is divided into districts, with the 5th and 6th arrondissements, also known as the Latin Quarter, being the most popular for visitors to stay in. The famous streets, such as Boulevard Saint-Germain, are found here, as well as the world-renowned Sorbonne University.
The Paris metro is an ideal means of transportation to get around quickly. And if you’re looking for a tasty lunch, head to one of the cosy cafés at the Abbesses metro station, within walking distance from the famous Sacré-Cœur Basilica.

Rome
Rome is definitely worth a visit during autumn. The intense heat has subsided, there are fewer tourists, and it’s all-round more affordable
Perhaps the world’s most romantic city, Italy’s capital is dazzlingly beautiful with a wealth of historical buildings and charming coffee shops. There’s no better way to enjoy a cup of strong espresso than in the heart of Rome, while watching its residents whizz by on their Vespas.
The areas surrounding Piazza Navona and the famous Trevi Fountain are buzzing with life, and everywhere you look there is something to take in.
